A  PEEK

The Neighbor's Kid:
Iain gave Marie a scolding look.
"A sympathy dinner."  Marie returned his look.
"Why not," she replied.
"What better way to tell them we feel for them as they for us."

The Return:
"What kind of man runs a lingerie boutique?"  His mother had harshly asked.  Out of respect for her, he had kept his retort to himself and walk of her house to his car.

Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places:
"Let's go," Johnson said, looking around nervously at the empty street and walking a little ahead of Ragoph in a posture that suggested bullets would soon begin whistling by.
"We can't get into the locker without that key," he said over his shoulder.
"What makes you think I don't know that?"  Ragoph snapped vehemently.
"Because you're the one who's always running off at the mouth," Johnson snapped back.

This Is War . . . Sorta:
Tears of indignation filled her eyes and ran down her cheeks.  She angrily wiped them away.

Reality Is A Relative Concept:
I turn the head from left to right, taking in the view, and clear to the horizon there is nothing but blue sky and sun-bleached earth.

For The Thrill Of It All:
After having crept downstairs to watch the multi-colored Christmas Tree lights as they danced around the tree, animating the living room with color, Scott Blankenship III sat in the LazyBoy facing away from the stairs.

Sweet Cherry:
"I'll study with you."  He stands.  "You never want to be alone with me.  Why?  What are you afraid of?"
"That'll ride you until you're as limp as a wet dish rag," she thinks as she turns away.  "My Lord Jesus, help me."
