A Bird's Point Of View

NUTSHELL

While out searching for food, Wild Charlie is grounded by a shot to his wing.  He is rescued and nursed back to health by a human being.  When he returns to the aerie, where Mae has been waiting faithfully, he shares with her his experiences.

A  PEEK

"I've been laid up, Sweet-thang," Wild Charlie pleaded.
"What?" Mae screeched again.  "I've been here needin' you and you've been with some eaglet?"  Mae Eagle-Feathers was steaming.
"Naw, Sweet-thang, it wasn't nothing like that," Wild Charlie said hurriedly, then lowered his voice.  "I had a human encounter."  Mae, wide-eyed, gasped and put her wing feathers to her beak.
